You can book driving test appointments, submit your license renewal, change your address and carry out most other DMV tasks online at www.dmv.ca.gov.

Create an Account on dmv.ca.gov

From the homepage, select ‘Register Here’ from the blue menu box on the right hand side. Registration at www.dmv.ca.gov is a simple process, and you have the option of completing all forms en Espanol by selecting the option in the top navigation bar.

To create an account, simply enter your personal information along with your Drivers License/ Identification Card number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

Information entered into the registration form must match the records held by the DMV for registration to be successful.

Once you have registered and signed in, hover your mouse over ‘Online Services’ in the top menu bar on the home page. A drop down will appear, and you should select ‘Appointments’. You can book a behind-the-wheel driving test simply by selecting the option from the DMV appointments page.

Some jobs require a particular kind of license for operating specific vehicles, and you can find all the necessary information online.

Simply hover your mouse over the main menu bar at the top of the page and select ‘Change Address’ from the drop down menu. To complete the form, you will need only your most recent vehicle or vessel registration card.

A full list of DMV forms can be found in the forms section, and you’re able to register or renew vehicles online by entering your basic information.

To renew a vehicle registration, make sure you have the last five digits of your Vehicle Identification Number and either a renewal notice with your current address or confirmation of your change of address through the online system.

You can renew your license on DMV just as easily, and full information for new drivers, including sample tests and information on hours, theory, and traffic schools is also available, or you can go straight to DMV Sample Test 1.
